Bag swap opening day!

Today is our EB bag swap opening day! How exciting. I received my package yesterday and it has taken all my will power to keep it untill today.

Well after racing out this morning to get DH to work I came home and ripped it open. Wow! My bag was made by the awesome and talented Becanne

The colours are sooo 'Me' and the size is just perfect for carrying all the usual Mummy stuff and more, The cross over on the front were made into pockets by Bec which is perfect for those things you need to get to quickly.

Thank-you so so much Bec, The work you put into my bag was awesome and it will be well loved and used. Now im off to fill it up

Our gorgeous boy Marcus is 3 today! I just cant believe how fast he has grown, He has spent the most part of this morning playing with all his new transformer toys (not sure if they were bought for him to play with or Daddy? lol) He is just the most beautiful little boy, so so energetic and busy but also a very sensitive and cuddly boy. In between racing around on his bike or playing with his toys he always has a moment to bring me a flower or just come and give me a hug and tell me he loves me the most.

I am currently involved in a Bag swap with other sewers from Essential Baby, The bags have to be sent and revieved by early july but since we have quite a bit on over the next month (and some exciting news I will hopefully reveal soon!) I have my bag completed ready to post.

Introducing the latest additions to our little family.........

Here is Wormy (goldfish) and Soupy (black moor)

After trying to decide for some time whether to get the kids a pet and considering guinea pigs or mice we settled on fish! We do have a beautiful border collie Macy but at the age of 9 she can only handle so much 'Kid time' (like most of us lol) The kids absoloutly love looking at fish so it was an easy choice as we do go away quite a bit so getting anything more demanding would cause a little hassle.

Oh and I am not taking any responsibility for the names, they were soley the kids ideas.

My sister in NZ is in the process of toilet training my 2yr old niece, I was a tester for This pattern by katie of 'That*Darn*Cat' last year and I have to say they make the most comfortable and cute undies ever! I made Mya quite a few pairs at the time and they are always her first choice to out on.

I also made up a cute TT chart and bought some little stickers to go with them as a little parcel to send from the Toilet training fairy.

I have put myself on a fabric ban! Over the last couple of years I have slowly accumulated all this fabric and my sewing just does not seem to make a dent in it, Untill I have sewed 30 items I will not buy or aquire ANY more fabric...... lol

Another winter set for Mya

I do actually sew for Marcus too! lol but he is going through a stage of not wanting to try anything on and get pictures. Hopefully this will end soon so I can show you all his winter clothes!

I have just finished this skirt and top set for Mya, It is an otto 301 pattern for the top which I modified to have a turtleneck, lettuce hems and bell sleeves. I appliqued the top then handpainted the design.
The skirt is a self drafted pleated skirt with a flat front and elastic at the back.

I also made an identical set but smaller to send to my 2yr old niece in NZ

We came back from our trip to the coast 3 days ago and we are still getting back into routine, Mya was very excited to see her Granga and everyday tells me she wants to go back to Granga's house "Cause its just soo much fun Mum!!" Here are a few pics of our visit to 'The Australian Reptile park'

Anyway while we were there we got to meet 'Kimmy' my little sisters pet ferret, Lucy is animal mad and saved up for a long time for the cage and all the acessories that come with owning a pet ferret. She asked me if I knew how to make Ferret clothes and I thought, Surely it couldnt be that hard right?? I have been busily researching everything ferret and am in the middle of drafting up some patterns that hopefully will be suitable for the stinky furry little creature.

First off I have made her a winter Hammock, She has a basic summer one so I thought with my abundance of fleece offcuts I have that a nice winter one with pocket would be nice.

Baby Gift set and cords from Marcus

Yay! I have finally had a chance to sew up this baby gift set for a friends who gave birth to a baby boy 'Oliver' last monday. The set was made using the New conceptions Baby essentials pattern, My absoloutly favourite baby clothing pattern!

I also had time yesterday to sew these cords up for Marcus using Burda style 9793. I used a $2p/m cord from SL for my trial pair. Although the pattern goes together easily I found it to be HUGE! Marcus is in a 1-2 around his waist in RTW clothes and a 3 for his length. I made these up in a 92(2) using his waist measurement for the elastic and added a small amount of length and they still came out way too big for his little bum! I love the pattern though so I will be spending quite a bit of time doing some mods to the pattern before using it again.

Mya's winter wardrobe

I am just about done sewing Mya's winter clothes now Yay! Here is a few sets I have made this week.

Top- Bought RTW top as I couldnt find fabric this colour. Bootleg cords with burda style pattern and euro cord applique (This time I slightly modified the burda pattern to be a little slimmer and the waist lower)

Middle- Another RTW top I got at Target for $2, it has the cutest best friends motif on it. Again I used my modified Otto pattern. The pants are a burda style bootleg cord pattern (Great pattern)

Bottom- A womens RTW top from an opshop, I modified the Otto Creative w'shop pattern to make this top. (The motif suits her PERFECTLY!)

We have moved house and now I have a Sewing room! woohoo I am slowly getting things organised in there and am soo over washing and ironing fabrics to put away in the double built in wardrobe. I have been slowly setting things up as well as starting some projects which I will put pics up over the wee kas I get them finished.

Im baaaaaaaack.......

After a 6 month hiatus I am proud to say im back doing one of my favourite things. I have been back at the machines this time creating some tiny little outfits for another new niece, 'Holly' who arrived on the 1st march.

My camera batteries decided to die today so no pics untill they arrive at their destination and she tries them on.

Also tonight I have made some lush black minky and leopard print coral fleece pram liners for Marcus's new wheels!

I am done! I think this will be my sewing efforts for a few weeks now (Except my bag swap) My house is calling out for a bit of TLC and I think I can hear my machine screaming for a break!

These are the sets I made for my baby Niece Jada, I bought the three of the tops and just put appliques on them. I hope my sister likes them

Another Girly Outfit

I have spent the last week sewing for my Baby niece but decided to make this outfit for Mya aswell as my niece so now they have dorky matching sets! Lol The top was made using This fantastic tutorial and the pants I made using a plain pant pattern and added the pockets and rolled up hem with button. The fabric is one of the ones from Fashionable Fabrics and was a bargain at $7.99p/y.

Myas Dress

Last night I finally finished Mya's dress after having to cut it down and resize it, I was not at all happy with this McAlls pattern although it was easy to understand. I ended up having to take 2inches off every panel which made for alot of wasted fabric, Grrr... Mya loves it anyway, Although you would never guess with her funny faces!

Well so much for my fabric ban..... We went to Melbourne for the weekend for SIL's 25th birthday party and I just HAD to go on a trip to DFO spotlight. I got some more of that Green/Pink retro paisley and the ones pictured. The denim has the most beautiful embroidery on it and pretty beads but was a bit expensive at $17.95pm, Although 1 metre will get me one pair of 3/4 shorts for Mya and 2 pairs of shorts for Marcus (For the un-embroidered end of course!).

A Beautiful weekend

We have had a lovely enjoyable weekend here this weekend, Yesterday we rugged the kids up and bundled them in the car for a day trip to Bright. DH decided to take us the scenic route through the valleys and it was a beautiful drive, We then had a pub lunch and took the kids to a great park where they had a ball. Today was spent relaxing at home and doing a bit of cutting and sewing.

I made this skirt for Mya after seeing a similar one at Pumpkin patch, I love the paisley fabric but wish I had bought more at the time as it was only $6 pm

I have joined a nappy swap group where we all make a nappy related item and swap them around, This nappy was my second swap and the swapee loves jungle theme and I fell in love with this fabric as soon as I saw it, Mind you I would hope so at $30pm! I have one cut out for Marcus in this fabric too so will get sewing this weekend.

Yesterday my Baby turned 1! I am amazed how quick this past two years has gone and would never have imagined two years ago when I was pregnant with Mya that two years down the track I would have a one year old and a two year old, My Little man is the most beautiful natured boy with a smile that lights up my heart each time I see it, I just know each year from now on is going to be such a happy one having my two children with me (And DH of course lol)

Just a few pics of some finished products, The pinnie is not the best pattern and I dont think I will use it again, I had to cut it down quite a bit as it was really big and had no shape as is is meant to slip on, I also had to put a zipper in to accomodate the new sizing. I much prefer the pinnies that are a bit mopre shaped

The brown cords are made out of the op shop bedspread, They cost me 30c to make!

The skirt was made without a pattern so it ended up way too long so I thing I will be cutting it down a bit, I love the fabric though

Overalls

Today I finished Mya's overalls, Although I still have to put buckles on the straps.

This was a Kwik-sew pattern 2785 with cord fabric form lincraft. A VERY easy pattern to understand and was my first garment made with a commercial pattern, I usually find them impossible to understand :) Although you cant see it very well in the pic as I used pink thread, it has a fake fly, a bib pocket and side pockets.

Overall I am pleased with the result!

Organising day

No sewing done this weekend, Just adding to my fabric stash!

Last night was spent organising my patterns with a great way my mum uses by putting the patterns in yellow C4 envelopes and contacting the pattern envelope to the front, they fit perfectly in to a filing cabinet this way too!

The top fabrics are all cords with the far right one the one I will be making Myas overalls out of. The bottom right two are some beautiful cottons form spotlight that I will be making some tiered skirts for Mya and my niece when I find a suitable pattern. Not sure what to use the brocades for, Maybe handbags?

I made another nappy up for my niece tonight, It has the same as the last. A cotton outer, Hidden PUL with panne velvet inner with snap in tri-fold and liner. My overlocking was pretty dodgy tho so I am thinking I might need to nook in for my lesson that came with the overlocker . lol

Todays shopping splurge!

Today was a time out day for me, I got to go shopping for fabric! Wasnt really time out because the kids came along too.

I went to a local fabric store and bought these 4 fabrics, The left one is a nice mid/dark blue polar fleece, Awesome thick stuff this is and is the first anti-pill fleece i've bought that really doesnt pill, I will be using this to make Marcus some fleece overalls with some red of the same fleece. The second is a red cotton paisley design to make a nappy for marcus and maybe one for my niece if I have left overs. The third and fourth are Minky!!! A baby blue ribbed and a black ribbed. Not sure what they will end up yet just bought it cause I could! The minky was only $9pm

I wont be doing any sewing today tho because Mya is not sleeping ATM as we took her dummy away yesterday and she refuses to go to sleep without it aaarrrggghhhh.......
